The Metro West project in Sydney is cornerstone new underground rail project connecting Parramatta to the Sydney CBD. It will incorporate 7 new stations and double the current capacity and target a travel time of approximately 20 mins. Construction is estimated to start sometime in 2020 and initial tunnelling will commence in 2022.

It is anticipated that the new line will be open for commuters by public 2030. During construction it will create between 10,000 new jobs and 70,000 associated jobs and MRR-Consulting provided technical advisor and constructability lead roles.

Brisbane’s Cross River Rail project is a new 10 km rail line between Bowen Hills and Dutton Park including almost 6 km of twin tunnels under the CBD and Brisbane River.

The project is designed to increase train services to ease congestion of the overall transport network. MRR-Consulting played various roles including Design manager, design and construction interface management, and bid management support.

The Forrestfield-Airport Link will establish a new rail line for the eastern suburbs or Perth and have a project cost for the State and Australian government of $1.8 billion dollars. It encompasses twin bored tunnels and will create three new stations.

MRR-Consulting provided services as an Independent reviewer due to its expertise in Tunnels, Stations and Methodologies.

Used extensively as a project challenge team member, technical advisor and peer reviewer, MRR-Consulting was an integral part of the studies undertaken for the proposed 23 km long North West Rail link from Rouse Hill to Epping in the North West west of Sydney.
The project would provide 8 new train stations and integrate into the existing CityRail network.

MRR-Consulting was engaged as a technical advisor and peer reviewer for the feasibility study on the Sydney to Canberra and Canberra to Melbourne segments of Australia’s proposed multi-billion-dollar high-speed east coast rail link.

MRR-Consulting was engaged for the Capacity study which determined that within the next 20 years the inner-city rail system would require doubling in its current size to keep up with the population projections.

Two new tracks and four lines were proposed for 2016 and 2026 that would involve underground tunnels, new stations and river crossings which equated to a significant upgrade of Brisbane’s existing rail network.

Running 49 kilometres between Dubai’s International Airport and the Al Maktoum Airport, the Dubai Purple Line project involved extensive pre-planning but due to local politics, it didn’t proceed to the construction phase. MRR-Consulting was utilised extensively as a Project Manager and drove the teams in the pre-planning stage.

The east side access project is one of the worlds most costly rail underground projects which is now over 15 years behind schedule and only forecast to begin public service late 2022. Its cost has risen from a projected $3.5b too over $11b.

MRR-Consulting was engaged as a deputy manager and design manager.

MRR-Consulting was responsible for Line 3 JV formation, team management and the Bid and pursuit manager lead for the 11.7 km long Metro 2 line in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Vietnam.

The entire project linked HCMC with the city of Hanoi and included 11 new stations and a depot and would increase public transport capacity by almost 40%.

The Rauhenberg Tunnel is a two-track 10525 m long concrete tunnel and is a high-speed rail tunnel between Göttingen and Kassel. Mathias was engaged for construction management and on the tunnel design.

Mathias worked on a variety of roles with the underground Railway station Including quantity surveying and the management of the subcontractors for a period fo 12 months.

Engaged in various engineering and management roles on the vast Much Metro system and tunnels including project and construction management.

The Hanover Train system has 15 main lines, serves 196 stations and transports approximately 150 million commuters per year.

Mathias worked on the station design and construction management of the Tunnels and shaft system of the C23 Subway.
